Dear friend, The election campaign in Spain for the European Parliament is coming to an end. Tomorrow Saturday will be the "jornada de reflexión", the "day of reflection" when political parties must remain silent. In the past two weeks I have criss-crossed the whole of Spain raising awareness of our new political party, the support it has from Europe's third largest political force and its leaders, and explaining what CDL stands for. I have been hugely encouraged by the warm reception I have received everywhere that I have been, both from Spaniards and from EU citizens resident in Spain. As a result, I am even more convinced that this election is one of the most important in Spain's democratic history. You have a very important role to play during the weekend convincing as many friends and contacts as possible to vote for CDL! It is high time that a new political force should appear in Spain as an alternative to conservatives and socialists; a political force that stands for the rule of law, transparency, accountability and which takes a zero-tolerance approach to corruption; a political force that upholds the rights of EU citizens whether it is Spaniards going to other parts of the EU or other nationals coming to Spain; and a political force that believes the economy must give a bigger role to those with initiative: "autónomos", entrepreneurs, innovators, and those who work in creative industries and education. Thus, millions of jobs will be created and the nation's economy will be better protected. Centro Democrático Liberal (CDL) is just this party. It is a credible alternative with the backing of Europe's third largest political grouping: the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, and its most high-profile leaders. CDL's list is headed by myself, a half-Irish half-Spanish citizen, and also includes Jacqui Cotterill, a British citizen, in position number 4 out of 50. Now that the campaign is over, the decision is in your hands. If you want to see the emergence of a political party that understands you and cares about your concerns you must vote on Sunday and convince as many of your friends and contacts to do likewise! Remember to select the slip that has the CDL logo on it and my name at the top of the list. If the slip is not readily available, ask for it! By law each polling station must have it. DO NOT MARK the slip in any way. Simply fold it, place it in an envelope and drop it in the ballot box. I hope we can count on your vote and that of your friends and contacts! On behalf of Centro Democrático Liberal and all its candidates, thank you!
